This
is Kenny's 68 Camaro the day he picked it up. What started out to
be a rewire of this car turned into a rewire, Vintage
Air heat/AC install, disc brake conversion and new interior. |
 |
This
is a shot of the finished interior. Seats recovered, new carpet, console,
shifter, headliner dash items fixed. |
 |
This
is the engine compartment when Kenny dropped off the car. To start
the car, you had to connect a wire from the coil to the battery. |
 |
The
brake lights didn't work when you stepped on the brakes, so you had
to hold that yellow cable in your hand and depress the button on the
end of it every time you applied the brakes. |
 |
All
of the old wiring was removed. |
 |
We
selected the American
Autowire Classic Update for the 68 Camaro. This kit
had it all! The new fuse box bolts into the original spot on the firewall
and it has all of the connectors included in the kit. Bolt the box
in, run the wires and plug in all of the sockets . . . it couldn't
be easier! |
 |
We
found a brake/clutch pedal assembly that was in much need of repair.
The tab that normally holds the brake light switch was missing . .
. this explains the yellow cable that was in the car. |
 |
We
removed the clutch, welded a brake light switch on the bracket, added
new bushings and repainted the assembly. Now when you step on the
brakes, the brake lights will work. |
 |
All
we had left to do was install the Vintage Air "Sure Fit"
system for the 68 Camaro that fit perfectly. The hardest part of this
kit wasw having to remove the passenger inner fender to remove the
old heater box. We recovered the seats and finished the interior and
this is now a different car than when we first saw it. |
