Dave's very nice 1953 Ford F100 Pickup is in to be rewired. We selected the American Autowire Highway 15 for this truck.
This shot shows the interior from the driver side of the truck. We will be making some much needed interior changes as well as the wiring.
The current fuse box is mounted on the firewall in the engine compartment exposed to the elements. This will be the first things to go!
This picture shows a connection block mounted to the driver side inner fenderwell. This will be the second thing to go!
The alternator connection will be completely rewired as part of the kit. As you can see, we like to keep a pretty detailed photo log of what we do.
This is a shot of a panel that covers the heat/air installed in this truck. This detail of the truck has been somthing that has bothered the owner, Dave, for quite some time. After very little discussion, we decided to remove this unit and update with a Vintage Air System at a later date.
This is a shot of a panel removed and the massive heat/air unit exposed. It has got to go!
Under the hood you will find a Cadillac 500ci engine. Notice what we found when we removed the 22ga sheet metal that was rivited to the original firewall. We will be smoothing the firewall with 16ga sheetmetal to completely seal everything.
We removed the unit and found a large hole in the firewall.
This is the firewall after we fitted and welded the 16ga sheetmetal into place. Next we will paint and get back to the wiring.
Now, back to the wiring . . . This is a shot of what we normally find lurking under the dash behind the steering column.
The American Autowire Highway 15 is installed and all of the wiring is complete.
The Flaming River polished stainless column is installed and looking good. We also installed the Lokar throttle and brake pedals.
Here is a shot of the completed interior after the installation of the Vintage Air Gen II Compact HCD. Compared to picture #6, I think that this 53 looks pretty good!
