Bill's
El Camino comes in for some much needed wiring. |
 |
The
engine compartment is a mess and it is easy to tell that many hands
over the years have attempted to make changes. |
 |
I
had to take a picture of this. Bill had a stereo installed at a "reputable"
place and what I found was more than I could believe. ALL of the connections
were twisted and taped. Unbelieveable! |
 |
The
electric choke wire was picking it's power from the exciter wire on
the alternator. Oh boy . . . |
 |
Since
no one makes a kit specifically for this vehicle, we decided to use
the American Autowire Highway 15. We made a mounting plate with a
grommet and bolted it into the vehicles original spot. |
 |
The
first thing to do is to pull all of the old wiring out. |
 |
The
dash was dissassembled and all of the under-dash wiring is removed. |
 |
This
is a shot of the interior light. Notice how the wires are simply looped
around the post. |
 |
On
the back of the interior light you can get a better look at how the
plug was connected. |
 |
The
antenna wire was broken and repaired like everything else in this
vehicle . . . twisted and taped. We picked up an antenna repair plug
from Radio Shack that worked great. |
